Breanna Gill has run away from the field after round one of the NZPWG Pro-Am in memory of Anita Boon.

The calm afternoon conditions allowed for the now Sydney based professional to play aggressively on the Remuera layout, having five birdies and only two bogies in her round of 70 (-3). Gill has spent the past few months playing amongst the men in the PGA Ladbrokes Pro-Am series where she has had multiple top 5 and top 10 finishes.

“After chipping in for birdie on fourteen it started some good momentum in making some birdies through the turn,” said Gill of her start in the event.

“The greens didn’t have quite as much fire as last year, so they were a little more manageable than last year.
“Hopefully I can go out there and get it done tomorrow.”

Whitney Hillier, Hanee Song, Elmay Viking and Grace St. Just are at 74 (+1) with some work to be done in chasing down the tournament leader tomorrow.

Players will tee it up again in the afternoon with a 12.45pm shotgun start at Remuera Golf Club.
